Welcome to my personal website! I'm glad you stopped by to learn more about my journey and work in education. Feel free to connect with me on LinkedIn or X (Twitter) at @scibri.
I have dedicated more than 26 years to public education. Growing up in Western North Carolina, I learned the value of education, hard work, and perseverance. As a native Appalachian, I witnessed firsthand how education can transform lives and create opportunities. My twin sister and I were first-generation college students. Our parents instilled in us a love of learning while emphasizing the importance of serving others, remaining humble, and showing kindness. These lessons continue to guide my work as an educator and leader. I began my career as a high school chemistry and science teacher at Salisbury High School. During my time there, I launched the school's first Advanced Placement (AP) Chemistry program and the North Carolina Teacher Cadet program. I also developed two STEM electives--Virtual Reality I and Virtual Reality II—where students engaged in problem-solving, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creativity. My passion for technology integration and supporting educators led me to become an Instructional Technology Facilitator at China Grove Middle School. Later, I served as a Design Thinking and Challenge-Based Learning Instructor at North Rowan High School, helping students develop the 4Cs—critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity—while strengthening problem-solving skills and student agency. During the 2020–2021 school year, I was honored to serve as an Instructional Design Coach at Jesse C. Carson High School, where I supported teachers in implementing digital and hybrid learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, I serve as a Digital Teaching and Learning Consultant with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI), supporting districts and schools throughout the Piedmont Triad region. I am passionate about helping educators maximize the impact of digital teaching and learning so that every student has opportunities to thrive. Thank you for visiting, and I look forward to connecting with you. |
